Riley Sims
Submitted by: Chris & Angie Sims
9:00am I had the most fantastic phone call this morning and I wish I could call everyone and tell them, but an email to update you is the best I can do at the moment. As you know we are going over to Riley hospital next week and we have 3 (possibly 4) days of appointments. Sara Parker from Audiology and Speech called me this morning to figure out why we were coming, and talk about a feeding clinic. It turns out that she can help us teach Riley how to get away from the baby bottle - so that is great, but not my fantastic news. Towards the end of our phone call I told her that I appreciated her calling me and trying to help us find some answers. Here is what she said: "When Dr. Schaff (Riley's head doctor over there) calls and tells you that she has a high-profile family coming on these dates, you move mountains to accommodate them. I asked her if I needed to cancel patients and she said 'no' but you have to work them into your schedule." I almost cried right there on the phone. No one has ever treated Riley this way, and it made me feel like a queen. I am so thankful that Riley has finally gotten someone's attention and got into their heart. This is an amazing answer to prayer! I told Chris that even if no one ever lays a finger on him, I am so appreciative that people are caring. ---- 11:50am I just got off the phone with Dr. Schaff to coordinate our schedule next week (whew!) Every appointment we have is with the head of that department. We are getting the best of the best next week. Thank you Jesus for leading us to this place. I don't know if I would appreciate as much as I do now if we hadn't have gone through the desolate valleys these past 5 years. Even if there are no answers, I am thankful that they have tried. Thanks for reading this far. We appreciate all your prayers and support. 05-02-2007
