But around midnight… maybe it was Paul …. maybe it was Silas … “quiet time needs to be over”.
Paul and Silas were put in jail for doing the will of God; preaching the gospel. They were tortured, they were in pain, they were facing death. Their accusers and adversaries were trying to silence them. Their captors had put them in “time out”, “quiet time”… in a dungeon. “Shut up” and silenced for a while.
When our circumstances are causing us discomfort… praise Him. When we’re going through some hard times… praise Him. When we’re going through the storms of life… praise Him.
Praise Him in the bad times.
Praise Him in the good times.
Shout His praise. Whisper His praise. Sing His praise. Dance His praise. “Quiet Time” needs to be over!
Praise Him in Public.
Praise Him in Secret.
Praise Him in our homes.
Praise Him in the house of worship.
Praise Him in the evening.
Praise Him in the morning.
Praise Him for His great salvation.
Praise Him for His love and mercy.
Praise Him for Who He is.
Praise Him for His goodness.
God has been good to you. God is Faithful. God has given us another chance! Praise Him!
Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 150:6
I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1
Psalm 95:2
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.
Psalm 66:1-2
Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: sing forth the honor of His name: make His praise glorious.
Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. Psalm 33:3
“Quiet Time” in the church needs to be over!
Somebody said we ought to praise Him because He called us out of darkness into His marvelous light!
Praise the Lord all ye people, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually. Sing unto His name, sing with the Spirit, sing with understanding.
“But the hour cometh and, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24
The third “noise” that needs to be heard in the church is that of praise and worship. What does that sound like? Described in scriptural terminology:
He did say, “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
The second “sound” that must be heard in the church is the “sound” of preaching. Jesus did not say go into all the world and build buildings, develop social fellowships, sing, distribute “witness wear” T-shirts, etc.
There are five basic sounds (noise) that need to be in the church. First… prayer. Jesus said it, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.”
Believers… let’s make some noise. “Quiet Time”, in the church needs to be over!
The church must not be silent.
It was noised that Jesus was in the house. Somebody got the word out … Jesus is in the house. Somebody told somebody else … Jesus is in the house. Of all the methods and strategies of evangelism; the best is still “make some noise”.
He (Jesus) entered into Capernaum after some days; it was noised that He (Jesus) was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door; and He preached the word unto them. Mark 2:1-2aeveryone’s bands were loosed. Acts 16:25-26
It doesn’t matter what the church is facing. It doesn’t matter what the rest of the world is going to do. There must be the sound of praise and worship in the church.
