“You have an Appointment with a Promise”

Part 1

Go with me in your mind’s eye to a tent in the valley of Shaveh. A nice elderly couple by the name of Abraham and Sarah… this is the Abraham whom God had chosen and called to the father of many nations.
This is the man chosen to be entrusted with revelation and truth for all generations.

God had a plan, a purpose, and a destiny for this couple. God had called Abraham out of idolatry. God still calls men, women, boys and girls out of idolatry.
“Get up, get out, and follow Me and I will bless you.”

The Lord appeared to Abraham and said, ” I am the Almighty…keep walking with Me… and I will continue to bless you. I will keep My covenant and bless you abundantly.” Abraham fell on his face and “God talked to him.” God continued to explain to Abraham how He would bless Him and keep His covenant and Abraham listened… until the Lord said, as for your wife Sarah, ” I will bless her and she shall have a son and …”

Abraham began to laugh… Yeah right. How will Sarah being 90 years old have a baby? But God wasn’t laughing. “I said, Sarah will have a baby.”

Next … three angels show up… “Where is Sarah?”
“Sarah is going to have a baby boy.” Sarah heard this and she began to laugh.

The angel said, “Why is she laughing? Is there anything too hard for the Lord?” The next time we come to see you we will also be seeing your baby boy!

To Abraham and Sarah, it seemed an impossibility at their age to have a baby… this was an incredible promise. As a matter of fact; they both had laughed at the thought.
However…however… nevertheless… as time went by and as they “moved their tent”… let’s read…

And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.”
Genesis 21:1-2

Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.”

When the Lord spoke to Abraham and Sarah He gave them a promise and at the set time; God delivered on His promise.

You have an appointment with a promise. Your promise may have come at an unexpected time. Your promise may be against all probabilities. Your promise may be contrary to common sense. It may sound like the Lord is off on His timing… but you have an appointment with a promise!
