Vision… Part Two
Life is a series of choices.
Our choices determine our direction.
Our direction determines our destination.
Conversely, choosing a destination demands that we choose a direction. If I am in Urbana Illinois and choose to drive to Oceanside California, I will choose a route that goes southwest.
Going east or north would be counterproductive to my journey and arrival at my desired destination.
While I’m driving southwest to California and then make a turn north instead of staying on the predetermined route…guess what? I’m not going to end up in California. The simple point is that when we choose a destination, we must have a vision. We must envision ourselves arriving at our destination.
If we don’t know where we are going, (no chosen destination, no vision) any road will take us there.
Where there is no vision, the people perish: (Proverbs 29:18)

Without a vision (dream, revelation, understanding of destiny) people have no boundaries, no restraints, no discipline, no chosen route to stay on.
Without vision, we will inevitably veer off our course, miss our destination, and be “lost”.
Still traveling, but any road will do because we’ve strayed away from the vision.
Without vision, our journey will lose its purpose and life without purpose leads to life without hope. Vision is the key. Where there is vision, there is hope, and where there is hope there is faith. With faith we can experience the fulfillment of our purpose with God.
Let’s move on to the next dimension of having a vision… keeping the vision. Anyone who has ever had a vision (dream, mental picture of their future desire being fulfilled) has encountered challenges in the journey. So, how does one overcome these challenges? A good question deserves a good answer.
Our vision must become our passion. What the Lord has placed in our hearts as our vision, our unique vision, not somebody else’s vision that we just want to duplicate; we must be willing to take the journey to get there!
Our “life” vision is what we must set our heart, mind, soul, and body on.

Our “life” vision must become so valuable to us that we will not give up, go back, quit, be detoured from, be distracted from, or trade it for anything else.
One’s vision and pursuit of the fulfillment of that vision must not be stopped, stolen, or sidetracked, by anyone or anything. This will require internal self-motivation and determination.

This will require setting boundaries of discipline of conduct for every aspect of our life’s relationships, associations, and involvements. If we are serious about fulfilling the vision the Lord has given us, we must set values and standards in our life that will keep us on the correct route to our destination.
Remember; not just any road will do.
Having vision is having purpose and seeing it in your mind by faith. Here’s the beauty of this.
As the Lord has granted you your vision (dream, revelation of purpose, understanding of destiny) He will also equip you to fulfill it… His promise.
We must understand that this vision is not our private made-up view of our future… it is the view of our future inspired by God. What He has inspired in us, He is committed to help us attain. He has invested Himself in our vision (purpose, dream, destiny) and His desire is for it to come to pass.
“Delight yourself also in the LORD; and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way (your present and future) to the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass”… which literally means that He is already working it out. (Psalm 37:4-5)
As the Apostle Paul stated, “for I know Who I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed to Him against that day”. II Timothy 1:12
We must be persuaded that He will give us all that we need to fulfill our commitment to stay on course, to keep the vision, and to arrive at our destiny! Are we perfect? No. Will we make mistakes? Most likely. Will we need “rerouted” a few times? Probably.
Will valuing and keeping the vision be worth it? The answer must be in our heart.
