Vision – Part Three & Conclusion

Vision… envisioning ourselves arriving at a destination.

Vision… a dream, a revelation, an understanding of destiny.

Vision… a picture of the desires of our heart being fulfilled.

Vision produces passion and hope. By faith; as we pursue our vision we are compelled to make the right choices to stay on course.

Each of us possess a unique vision.  Just as the Lord has made each of us in our “uniqueness”, so is our personalized vision unique.  With this understanding comes a personal responsibility to value and fulfill our assignment on this earth.

Just as possessing a vision requires personal responsibility it also requires a corporate responsibility.  Our vision must originate and be inspired from our Lord, not from our own desires or by “copying” someone else.  Vision is about Him, His purpose in our lives, and that purpose bringing honor to Him. “Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.”  Proverbs 19:21 Amplified

Furthermore, He is all about His church. As a believer we are a part of His church.  “Now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has pleased Him.  I Corinthians 12:18

Possessing a God-given vision carries a corporate responsibility. Our commitment to our vision must be merged with our commitment to our place and purpose within the body of Christ, the church. A God-given vision will never contradict the purpose of His church.  Pursuing and fulfilling our personal vision and purpose must be combined with a humble and submissive spirit within the corporate purpose of His church.

The Lord does not give one a vision for personal glorification and aggrandizement or for a self-promotional agenda.  A God-given vision will always be about God’s purpose. Our vision must find its place within the corporate collective vision and mission of the church.

Our personal vision must be combined with others’ personal visions in a corporate environment.

One must not think that because the Lord has given them a vision that it is a gift to be used separately from the church. Our vision must be fulfilled within a broader scope to assist in the corporate purpose.

Vision requires a continual connection with the Lord.  We must inquire of the Lord repeatedly concerning the pursuit of our purpose.  A God-given vision must be put back into the hands of the Lord.  He gave it to us.  Our vision is really His vision…His vision for us.

Just as God gives us a vision, He will give us the ability and provision to fulfill the vision.  We must move forward with faith everyday of our life, overcoming all distractions and obstacles to the vision.

He will also give us a plan for fulfilling the vision. It is wise to seek guidance for developing a plan from those that we have observed as faithful stewards of God-given visions. Putting the plan of fulfilling a vision in writing is also beneficial to “tracking” the progress.

In conclusion, life is too brief to go through it without purpose, direction, and a dream. As believers we recognize the goodness, mercy, and grace of God in our lives.  He has a distinct and unique plan for each of us to fulfill.  Discover it, cherish it, and get after it.
